Glenn Elbridge Miller, the owner of these photographs, was born in Gamber, Md., on Sept. 29, 1899. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve Force August 10, 1918 as a Landsman for Musician, and was later promoted to Musician Second Class on March 1, 1919, and Musician First Class on July 1, 1919. Glenn Miller served at the Naval Operating Base, Hampton Roads, Va. beginning on Sept. 18, 1918, on the troop transport U.S.S. Zeelandia, on December 20, 1918, and the Receiving Station, Washington, D.C. on October 6, 1919. Musician First Class Glenn Miller completed his service on October 9, 1918. The donor is the wife of Glenn E. Miller.
