Kit, surgical. Surgical kit belonging to Dr. Martin Luther Bott of Westminster. Rectangular wood box covered with alligator skin. Contains complete set of surgical instruments including nine stainless steel instruments (scalpels, probes, etc), a bone saw, five vein clamps, a brass-framed bleeder in a leather-covered case, a set of Dr. C.H. Fitch's Prescription Scales in a nickel-plated box. Nickel-plated plaque on top engraved "M.L. Bott Westminster, MD." C.1875-1900.Acquisition

Belonged to Dr. Martin Luther Bott of Westminster.Dr. Bott (5 February 1848 - 2 March 1931) married Elizabeth Jones (17 January 1848 - 8 December 1923) of Taneytown on December 6, 1872. Bott was born in York County and the couple moved to Westminster in 1881. They had no children. Was acquired from Dr. Bott's estate by donor's father, Dr. Luther Bare.
