Letter from Roger B. Taney (1777-1864) to Col. Joshua Gist (1747-1839), dated April 27th, 1811. Letter reads "Frederick, April 27, 1811. Dear sir, By the inquiries I have made since I saw you, I am confirmed in opinion that you are entitled to the rents- as soon as you send me the grant & let me have a copy of the lease I will take the necessary steps in the business- I understand from Mr. Key that he met you on the road, & had conversation with you on the other subject we were talking about.
