General Notes

Note

In the latter part of the 19th century, Ezra D. Stuller of the Taneytown area, Carroll County, Maryland, began a career as veterinarian and laborer. By the late 1890's, however, he worked primarily as a builder. During the first decade of the twentieth century, Stuller brought his son, Edward Ezra Stuller, into the construction business. Edward Stuller assumed control of the business in the second decade of the twentieth century and formally established what was to become the Stuller Construction Company. Edward Stuller worked as an independent building contractor from this time until the end of the Second World War. In the years following the conflict, Stuller brought his son-in-law, Mr. Homer Myers into the company, of which Mr. Myers assumed control following Mr. Stuller's retirement in the late 1950's. This collection contains business account books, project files on the company's work at the Johnsville and Winfield schools, Carroll County, Maryland, miscellaneous project files, and photographs showing building projects from c.1890-1961.
