Tintype. Cased. School group in New Windsor, 10 October 1860. Taken outdoors; camera at bottom of small hill, looking up at a group of students gathered in front of a 2-story schoolhouse. William Currey is the teacher. Photo is landscape orientation, mounted in right side of case with bottom of image toward hinge. Copper mat has rectangular window with scalloped edge. No glass. Red velvet panel in left side of case. Case covered with embossed leather; floral design at center. Double hook closure. 4.625" x 3.75" x .5".

Note

Original deed of gift reads "Tintype, Mr. Currey's school. New Windsor Oct. 10, 1860". William R. Currey (10 December 1824 - 23 April 1905) married Elizabeth E. Barnes Currey (8 August 1830 - 15 December 1916). They had five children: Alice L. Currey (1857–1952); Marion A. Currey (1859–1887); Anna E. Currey (1864–1865); Charles Baile Currey (1866–1952); and Florence A. Currey (1871–1958). All are buried at New Windsor Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
