Part of collection of objects belonging to John H. Mitten. Mitten served in Co. A, 6th Maryland Infantry. He was wounded at the Wilderness, 5 May 1864. He was very active in the G.A.R. Deed of gift reads "medal, 'Delegate, GAR 39th National Encampment, Denver, Colorado, 1905', original case"
