__ __Printed piece of paper below picture: "History" "STOOL - Made in 1940 in Md. White Mahogany wood, from tree as shown in photo, taken about 1895, on the lawn on the Roop Farm near Westminster, Md. on the Uniontown Road. We have two original deeds - Date Jan. 1832 Dr. Thos Boyer, Nov. 19 1832 to Grandfather David Roop (then Frederick Co.) - Dec 22, 1863 to Father - David J. Roop (then Carroll Co.) Sept 27 1922 to H. Scott Roop & Sister Alice - Jan 20th 1941 to H. Scott Roop & Kate M. Roop - hence a Roop farm since 1832. My recollection as a small boy, about 1866, dropping a Mahogany Bean, in a hole near the house, the photo tree, the result. Same day the 4 pines still on the lawn were planted, each pine being held by the 4 older children I being the youngest. The Mahogany tree cut in 1926 to protect the house of from large limbs, the lumber stored and seasoned. Photo shows 1 - Father 2- Mother 3 & 4 Sisters Anna & Fanny & the farm help. This dated ___ 28th, 1941 - H. Scott & Kate M. Roop. May this stool never be sold but passed to oldest living of generation so that it may, years later still be appreciated." On the photo is written in black ink "Our Home - 4 - 1 - 2 - 3"
