Part of a collection documenting the life and activities of the Schweigart family of Westminster, Maryland from 1875 to 1978, but focuses on John Leslie Schweigart (11/14/1895 - 11/26/1988) and his wife, Lottie C. (Mathias) Schweigart. The couple married in 1927. Prior to his marriage, John L. Schweigart served as an accountant with the Panama Canal Commission from 1915 to 1917. At the outbreak of World War I, Schweigart enlisted in the 72nd Infantry, 11th Division and became a musician with this unit, which served at Camp Meade, Maryland. Following World War I, Schweigart returned to Westminster, married Lottie C. Mathias, worked as an accountant, directed the Westminster City Band, and established a company named the Maryland Business Service in 1946. Negative made by Myers 140 Photo, 8 June 1999.
