Note
David Shriver, Sr. was the progenitor of the Maryland Shriver family. He settled in the Pipe Creek section of Frederick County, c. 1760; the area later became part of Carroll county. He was elected to represent Frederick County in the first state legislative election held in 1776. He served for 30 years and was the voice of the Germans in western Maryland.
