16"h x 25.5"w x 5.5"d. Long thin rectangular carpetbag, woven fabric in red/brown geometric pattern. Brown leather handle, brass lock. Orange cloth lining with divider. Black leather bottom with six brass knobs.

Context

While this carpetbag did not belong to Mary Shellman, Dorothy Elderdice, the first curator at the Historical Society, noted that a carpetbag was among the items still in the house.
