Robert Jeter Walden [b. 10 May 1870 – d. 19 July 1951] was the son of Robert Wyndham Walden [b. August 2, 1843 – d. April 28, 1905] and Caroline E. Bennett [b. August 7, 1844 – d. June 10, 1925]. Like his father, he was a trainer of thoroughbred racehorses. In 1899, he won the Kentucky Derby with the colt, Manuel. He took over the management of Bowling Brook after his mother’s death. In 1892 he married Mary E. “Nanny” Norris [b. 19 May 1872 – d. 19 December 1954]; they had no children. They are buried in the Middleburg United Methodist Church Cemetery. Photographer William G. Grotecloss was in business in Paterson, NJ, from 1887-1901.
