Note
The Western Maryland Stock Yards, located a few blocks from Main Street at the end of John Street (extended) opened for business Sept. 13, 1938. According to the Carroll County Times, the buildings were “large and spacious, entirely under cover, and have every convenience for stockmen and their cattle.” The stockyards held sales every Tuesday.
