There is a man in a vest and pant suit and fire helmet leaning against it. The cart is parked along the sidewalk in a dirt street. There is a storefront behind them. Another man in a dark suit and fire helmet is standing at the back of the ladder cart. On back in black ink "donor - Mrs. Eleanor B. Hollenbach - Grandfather Rev. Dr. John A. Note

The stereographs belonged to donor’s grandfather, Rev. John A. Earnest, who was pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in the 1870s. He also taught German at Western Maryland College. Donor’s mother, Alice, was the oldest child. She graduated from Western Maryland College at age 17 in 1877. Her uncle, Charles Earnest, was born in Westminster in 1871. Donor’s husband, Rev. Dr. John S. Hollenbach, was pastor of the Manchester Reformed Charge for 19 years.
