The Westminster Hardware Company was founded in 1898, taking over M. Schaefer and Company which had been established in1877. The new business increased its retail space and added a wholesale department with a traveling salesman. The store sold various goods, including hardware and housewares, and served school systems, roofers, and contractors. The building was destroyed by fire in the 1970s.
