Painting. Watercolor, 1880. Show the J. Wilson Englar house near New Windsor. Image is of the house, in foreground is a man in a light blue coat who is holding a pen and sketchpad (probably a representation of the artist). The watercolor is oval on paper and is glued to a paper mount decorated with hand drawn red and blue intersecting lines. The title is on a small oval label, printed from a steel engraving, and glued to the mount. The frame is wood, made of 4 boards which overlap each other at the corners. Watercolor: 15"h x 20"w, frame: 29"h x 36"w.Acquisition

Original deed of gift reads "House of Wilson & Elizabeth Ensor Englar near New Windsor. Painted by A. B. T. Langbher 1867". Artist is Andrew B. McLaughlin, a schoolteacher from New Windsor. His name does not appear on any list of Maryland artists and no other works by him are known to exist. Deed of gift is marked "Catalogued"
