Description

Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee Railroad At this time in the 1920s McKinley Road north of Wisconsin Avenue was considered to be the industrial district of Lake Forest which commercial businesses of all kinds, some of which were served by the Chicago & North Western railroad. In an attempt to compete for less than carload freight, the North Shore Line tried to build a freight house here; however, the railroad met stiff resistance of the neighbors and was unsuccessful in its efforts. images are also on a CD (1982.3.1 - 1982.3.29)
