The Methodist Deaconess Orphanage was also known to some as simply the Lake Bluff Orphanage. In its later years it was known as Lake Bluff Children's Home. The red brick Georgian buildings along Scranton Avenue that made up the orphanage were razed in 1979, replaced by single-family houses. There is a historical marker at Scranton and Evanston Avenues.
