Original owner David J. Lake, was the Secretary of Lake Forest Association when it was formed in 1856. Lake was a trustee of the original Lake Forest Association and the third mayor of Lake Forest. Forest Lawn was built in 1870. Rufus Rose was the architect. The house was extensively remodeled in 1927. In 1976 the interior was again remodeled. The coachhouse at 642 E. Deerpath was converted to a residence. The residence was later owned by the Thomas Byrne Family. Later on the Muzzy family purchased the property and gave the statue of a deer found on the estate to the city, where it was placed in Triangle Park.Lexicon
