Samuel Dent gravestone in Lake Forest cemetery. Reads, "To the memory of Samuel Dent. Born in Tuscumbria, Ala. Escaping from slavery he entered the Union Army in 1862. Died at Lake Forest June 9, 1890. If the Son shall make you free ye shall be free indeed."
