The Dickinson Seminary for Young Ladies was opened on Sheridan Road by the Rev. Baxter Dickinson who served as first pastor of the Presbyterian church from 1862-67. The school continued for a decade and then the large frame structure became a boarding house, a dormitory for girls at the college, a dormitory for academy students, and about 1900 became the South School. Later, it was incorporated into a home on Mayflower Road, Lake Forester, February 16, 1961
