The unveiling of the bell at Everett School, Charles Accardi, Principal is behind the microphone, Cheryl Tucker and Shirley Paddock on the left and Pauline Mohr on the right lift the veil. The bell was returned to Everett School through the efforts of Shirley Paddock. It had been found in Arizona, intact, but was in need of restoration. The bell called children to school until September 11, 1914. It had hung in the second Everett School (the former Everett Fire Station, now razed) on Everett Road. The school closed in June, 1957 and the bell was no longer used. It was kept by former Everett School student and long time custodian and bus driver, Gene Seyl. When he moved to Arizona, the bell was brought with, it was returned by his daughter, Barbara Seyl LaDuke in 1993. The bell was officially unveiled and presented to Everett School in April, 1995, when Everett celebrated its 80th birthday.Lexicon
