In 1930, Karl Knauz and Bob Becker opened a service station at Woodland and Western Avenue with one mechanic.
In 1934-35 Karl Knauz joined forces with competitor Wally Boutin and opened a gas station north of Westminster on Western Avenue (778 Western Avenue). They soon decided to sell cars. They originally sold De Soto and Plymouth cars and in 1941 became a Chrysler dealer. They built their first showroom in 1946.
