Description
Photo collection focused on Charles Nathaniel Ford (1867-1927) and his estate house and garden at the southeast corner of Green Bay and Laurel. Worked at the Albert Dickinson Seed Company in Chicago. Lived in Lake Forest for a time in the 1920s.
Tudor style house has been demolished. Lot 10 in the Western Addition. Probably 1015 North Green Bay (residence) with a coachhouse at 35 Laurel - site is now 5 East Laurel but there is a different house built in 1936. Ford lived there circa 1922-1926.
Conjecture: Ford sold the property to Arthur Dixon c. 1926. In the 1930s/40s Dixon is listed at 1015 North Green Bay (residence) with a coachhouse at 35 Laurel. Dixon had a new house built by Stanley Anderson in 1936, which is still there 2020s - possibly it was around 1936 that the old one that Ford lived in, pictured here, was demolished? By the 1950s it looks like the lot was subdivided and the new address for the 1936 Dixon house is 5 East Laurel.
