Description

Grade 6, Gorton School, 1924-1925. Olive Morse was the teacher. Students are seated in rows in their desks. Sunlight is streaming in through window, fading out the right side of the photograph. Photo from Dorothy Gleiser, April 13, 1992. Originally called the Central School, in 1905 it was renamed the Gorton School in honor of the nineteenth mayor of Lake Forest, Edward F. Gorton (1895-1902). In 1972 Gorton School was converted to the Gorton Community Center.
