
"In 1909, Robert 'The Colonel' McCormick founded a law firm. His grandfather, Joseph Medill, was the publisher of the Chicago Tribune. The Medill family were Ulster Scots. Weymouth Kirkland joined the firm in 1915. The firm was later renamed for the four managing Scottish Partners: McCormick, Kirkland, Patterson and Fleming.
