General Notes

Note

Notes: One of Fort Lauderdale's colorful characters was a Seminole named "Shirttail Charlie." Local legend claimed that he had been condemned to wear a dress for the murder of his wife. In fact, he simply wore the "big-shirt" still in vogue with Seminole men. Charlie was a panhandler on the streets of Miami and Fort Lauderdale until his death in 1925.
