Louella Snyder 1875-1969
Louella Snyder, husband W.B. Snyder, and son Giles arrived in Fort Lauderdale in 1910. The Snyder’s established a real estate business in 1911 after working a few months at the Stranahan Store. In 1925, Louella founded the Wells-Snyder Paint Company with Louella as President of the company and M.W. Wells as Secretary-Treasurer. The company did so well during its first year, it became necessary to establish a warehouse and hire 30 new painters.
An active member of the community, Louella Snyder headed multiple organizations. A member and President of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 59, she was the 1935 Grand Elector for the State of Florida Order of the Eastern Star Coral Gable Session. A charter member and the first Noble Grand of the Caloosa Rebekah Lodge. Louella was President of the Woman’s Club from 1921-1922 and member of Past Presidents of the Woman’s Club, Louella lead by example and dedication.Created By
