Description

The upside down house was completed in August of 1960 and cost over $11,500.00 to build. To date over 150,000 people have seen the house, and 3,000 to 5,000 visit the Upside Down House per week. The Upside Down House has received world-wide recognition since it was featured in the "Speaking of Pictures" section of Life Magazine August 22, 1960 edition. The Hearst Metrotone News Inc. deemed the Upside Down House so unique and unusual they took newsreels of the house, translated the copy into 28 languages, and sent the newsreels all over the world. Every major newspaper throughout the Nation carried photos and story about the Upside Down House. (Credit - Norman Johnson). 1960
