Jeanne Goon Moy along with her family arrived in the United States from China in 1919 and settled in New York. She later met and married George Moy, a business owner, who operated a laundry mat and restaurant. Similarly, George had also moved here from China in 1913 with his family. With their son, William (Bill) Moy, George and Jeanne eventually moved to Hollywood, Florida in 1946 from New York, NY.
In Hollywood they opened Moy's Chinese Restaurant in Young Circle. Multi-talented, Jeanne was one of only a few women to be a director in Broward County and served on the Board of Directors for the American Bank of Hollywood. George also was a director at Jackson State Bank in Hollywood and was part of the City of Hollywood's Chamber of Commerce. Both Jeanne and George were avid sportsman with a deep love of Thoroughbred race horses, owning many champion race horses over the years.
Following in their footsteps, Jeanne and George's son William (Bill) Moy went into the restaurant business and inherited Moy's Chinese Restaurant. A savvy business man, he was the Director of the First National Bank in Hollywood and founded the American Bank of Hollywood. William also served in the United States Army as a Captain and was a graduate of Georgia Tech. While at Georgia Tech he met and married Peggy Eng Moy. Peggy who was active in the Hollywood community through her membership at the Rotary Ann Club and First Baptist Church in Hollywood. Together they had three girls, Jeanne, Jane, and Jennifer, each growing up in Hollywood and continuing to dedicate their resilience and efforts to the community.
