Description

Anvil (trademark) Railroad Pen 5-1/4", model 932, sold by the Keuffel & Esser Co., N.Y., no date, circa 1945-1962. Hollow black handle with two pairs of nickel silver curved spring blades with three adjustment nuts. With: slipcase cardboard box with embossed paper and printed label. Marked on largest adustment nut: K & E Co. Germany. Other common name was curve or ruling pen. K+E general offices and factory were in Hoboken during the period when this item was made. While this item was not made in Hoboken, it is a typical example of the imported products that were stocked and shipped by K&E; the box was probably made in Hoboken. This item was replaced ca. 1956-1962 by the Mark I Railroad Pen, model no. 55-1854 (K&E went to six digit stock numbers from 1956-1962), which noted it was the "old 932." See objects 2009.006.0046.
