Released on Nov. 4, 1986 as a 12 LP (long-play) vinyl phonographic record. Commonly referred to in discography for this band as the "The Pink Album" which is a reference to the pink color used as the primary field color in the cover artwork.
According to online discography for this band (http://www.discogs.com/They-Might-Be-Giants-They-Might-Be-Giants/release/875858), Bar/None issued the first cassette version in 1987 (A-HAON-002) with the joint issue (7 72603-4) by Bar/None and Restless following later the same year.
Cover artwork shown in full plus inside of the printed insert where there is a black-and-white illustration of a running snowman plus promotional text for Restless catalog.
Bar/None Records was founded in 1986. This album was its second one.
