Description
Black-and-white copy photo negative with two images of St. Matthew's Church sanctuary, Hoboken, no dates, ca. 1900-1930. 5" x 7" high negative. Copy photo by Werner Carl Hagmueller; photographed probably mid-1950's; presumably for a publication about the 1956 centennial of the church.
Image 1: sanctuary looking towards altar, no date ca. 1920-30. Photographer not indicated. Lecturn at the right. Lighting is seen on the columns and along main aisle.
Image 2: sanctuary looking towards altar and decorated for Christmas, no date, ca. 1900-1920. Note the older style lighting fixture with prisms. No lighting at the tops of columns. The lecturn is at the right. (as photographed the image was mirrored left to right; shown corrected in this record.) Original photograph taken by William Manewal, Hoboken as captioned in lower right corner.
Significant differences on the wall behind the altar can been seen by comparing images especially text (or lack thereof) and the artwork.
