Description

Black-and-white photo of 5 men posed in or on a car at a Hoboken pier head, Hoboken, 1953? 8" x 10" print. Photographer not known. Reverse is blank. Holographic number at the lower right on image, 53, which is believed to be the year. Loose, as received, in a crudely hand-cut matte with holographic names (done with a felt-tip pen so it is not contemporary with the presumed date of the photo) in the lower margin identifying four of the men; a a man seated at the driver's wheel is probably not one of the identified men. From the left: George Shefhooser, Harry Fitzpatrick, Joe McGovern, Frank Beers. The view is looking east with the insurance buildings at Madison Square in New York visible behind the two men at the right. At the left, the large building is the Starrett-Lehigh building. The car is an early 1930's vintage convertible coupe. Once displayed at the Elysian Cafe, Hoboken. The driver may be Robert Quinn.
