Black-and-white photo of Mayor John Grogan cutting the ribbon at the Grand Opening of Marcus Jewelers, Hoboken, April 3, 1954. 8" x 10" wide print. Photo was taken by George Van of Newark. Reverse has photographer's ink stamp and negative or job number 63634. Nathan Marcus is the right and Mrs. Marcus is presumed to be at the center. The other people are unidentified.
The store was at 106 Washington St. and went out of business ca. 1998. The shot was taken looking east from the entrance to the store. In the background, two Hudson St. buildings can be seen between two buildings on Washington St.
