Black-and-white photo of Pat Rooney II & Janet Reade being married in Hoboken City Hall, July 21, 1942. Print 8" high x 11" wide with integral caption. Associated Press wire service photo and caption. Reverse has attached published photo with caption, dated July 22, 1942, from newspaper, San Francisco Examiner plus the inkstamp of the Examiner Reference Library. Caption below photo: (NY15) Hoboken, N.J., July 21 -- Pat Rooney II Weds Former Daughter-in-law -- Pat Rooney II of the dancing family, (left) puts the wedding ring on the finger of Janet Reade, (center) his former daugher-in-law, during their wedding ceremony at City Hall today. Standing next to the new Mrs. Rooney is Jean Scanlon, New York singer who was bridesmaid, while Recorder Robert Emery (right) is reading the marriage service. (AP Wirephoto) (Gx31721RSTF) 1942 (see wire story) The published photo from the Examiner has it as "All in Family" with the original caption slighty truncated. It refers to a story on page 13. Apparently this was a significantly newsworthy event as the story was also in Time magazine the next week (see notes.) Emery was the Court Recorder. The ceremony was apparently in the City Council chamber which also served as the courtroom.
