Description
Black-and-white photo of the S.S. Macalester Victory at an American Export Lines Hoboken pier, April 1948.
3-1/4" x 5-1/2" wide print. Photographer not indicated. Lower margin ink notations in image. Reverse blank except for processor's number: 335.
A cargo ship that was a built as a World War II victory ship. While the lower marginal note has "Macalester Victory Am. Ex." the "E" on funnel, if present, can not be seen. The funnel is not painted in the typical American Export style and the ship has not been found listed in the usual rosters of their known vessels. It is possible that they did not own it, but were operating it under the supervision of the U.S. Shipping Board.
