General Notes
Note
Notes: The Janssen Dairy Co. was established in Hoboken and remained here for several decades. The U.S. Dairy Products Corporation was a holding company which controlled a significant number of dairy and dairy related businesses in the northeast. Its establishment as a functioning company is considered as 1923, but The New York Times of Dec. 5, 1919 notes a Delaware charter given to it as a Wilmington corporation at that time.
By the mid-1920s it controlled dozens of companies and brands. Along with two other major producers, the group was considered as a Milk Trust. They controlled over two-thirds of the New York market in this period and into the 1930s. When Janssen became part of it has not been located.
