Photo location map 1, photo no. 87. The Silos Building store five different types of green coffee beans used to make Maxwell House Coffee. One million pounds of each coffee, from Africa, Guatemala and Brazil, could be store there. The tubes carried a designated weight of each type of bean to be blended with other types.
Photograph was part of required federal and state documentation under the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) of the site by the property owners and developers, Maxwell Place on the Hudson. Demolition of these buildings commenced in June, 2004. See archives catalog 2004.042.0001 for more background and the source document.
