Description
Digital image of b+w photo of Mayor Fred M. DeSapio at the opening of the first veterans housing in Hoboken, Hoboken, no date, ca. 1947-51. Original print 8" x 10" wide. Photographer not indicated, possibly Scully.
Reverse red-ink stamp "Observer" indicating this was a print for the newspaper Jersey Observer (ceased publication 1951) plus blue grease pencil text probably for the caption: at the opening of first veteran housing in Hoboken | 3 Col | Jersey Observer | J A S [possibly name of photographer J.A. Scully].
No identification key, but Mayor Sapio is seen shaking the hand of a veteran with his wife holding their young child beside him. Mayor's hair style suggests it is ca. 1950 or later. Location and date not indicated.
