Description
Digital image of black-and-white photograph of the upper rear facade and roof (with pigeon loft) of 509 Monroe Street, Hoboken, no date, ca. 1963-1970.
Original image was a Polaroid, 3-3/8" high x 4-1/4" wide. Photographer not indicated. Reverse was blank except for manufacturers labeling: Polaroid 3000 speed, Type 107 (introduced in 1963).
The large door at the left is to a hayloft used then Rafaelle Gallo (deceased 1948) had a horse for his rag cart. On the roof at the center with the structure with a sloped roof is a pigeon loft used by his son Victor for racing pigeons. Victor named this loft "The Hayloft" and thus the name used for his racing team.
