Digital image of photo of the Kazoo Band (a Hoboken Playgrounds Field Band), Hoboken, (probably May) 1928. Original image was ca. 10" wide x 7" high. Photographer not identified but was probably William Menken. Captioned and dated in image. People are not individually identified. Location is not identified.
Julius Durstewitz is in uniform right of center. The twenty-four member all - girl band included percussion instruments although most played kazoos. Band is dressed in nautical uniforms. The woman at center is not identified, but it may been Marion Kennedy who would have been in charge of girls activities at the playgrounds.

The photographer is suggested by the similarity of the print edges and lettering found in 2005.078.0113 which is a Menken photograph.
