Description
Digital images, four, of River Street at various locations, Hoboken, December 25 and 28, 2003. Photographs by Robert Foster.
All views are locations that have all changed, but where filming was once done for "On the Waterfront."
Photo 1. Fence (gate 4 with gatehouse) on east side of River Street mid-block between Second and Third Streets. The approximate location would have been Pier B of the Port Authority Piers. It was the last section of original fencing from that era (and possibly much earlier) and is now the site of the W Hotel. Old bollards reclaimed from the piers are seen inside the fenced area.
Photo 2. Freight entrance to 333 River Street at north end of the building where Fourth Street meets River St. (which changes to Frank Sinatra Drive.)
Photo 3: View northeast from ca. 4th and River Streets of the riverfront walkway with Frank Sinatra Park at the left. Formerly the site of Pier 5, Holland America Lines.
Photo 4: View northwest of the parking garage facade on River Street between Second and Third Streets, once the location of 314 River St. Marineview Towers is in the background.
