Illustration of Fergusson Propeller Yard by Kevin McCloskey, circa 1986
Entry/Object ID
2026.005.0010
Description
Greyscale illustration of the Ferggusson Propeller Yard on 11th and Clinton. McCloskey uses graphite to illustrate these enormous steamship propellers that sit in the yard, some of which were made here, while others were brought over to be refinished.
Sculpted by Alexander Calder, who was believed to have found inspiration for the propellers when he was a young engineering student at the Stevens Institute.
Further information about the propeller yard can be found on page 19 of McCloskey's 'Walking Around Hoboken.'
