Scope and Content
Instructions and report: Macy's Parade Studio Balloon Quality Control Card; Bullwinkle instructions and history. Ca. 2000-2011.
Three leaves, 11" x 17" high; all photocopies; sheet 2 with holographic ink entries.
The Parade Studio was located at 1505 Willow Avenue in Hoboken from 1969-2011. The cartoon character balloon (Bullwinkle, the Moose) would appear in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
The sheets were found in the balloon loft at the former Hoboken studio in a clear plastic sleeve (sleeve deteriorated and not retained.) Apparently they would have been kept with or near the hamper that the balloon was stored inside.
Numbering is arbitrary.
Sheet 1: Bullwinkle.
Instructions for inflation of balloon and to handlers. Not dated. (Text in notes.)
Sheet 2: Macy's Parade Studio Balloon Quality Control Card. Balloon name: Bullwinkle, 1961. Feb. 2000.
A table with columns labeled: chamber; s [seal?]; zippers; h/l's [handling lines?]; inflation test.
Entries in columns are handwritten.
Below table is labled "packing instructions," but the area was used for extensive added notes about the condition.
Sheet 3: Bullwinkle (history)
A paragraph with facts about the balloon and general comment about the condition and work needed to be able to use it again. Undated but obviously refers to condition related in the dated condition report of February 2000. (Text in notes.)

Text sheet 3:
BULLWINKLE (history)
Goodyear balloon, new 1961, 65 x 35, 317 lbs, 8200 cu ft, 150 lbs
free lift. Bullwinkleps last flight was in the 1983 Parade. He is in
very rough shape and will need MUCH work in order to fly again. Most of
the rip panels require extensive work in order to get them to seal,
especially the antlers. The paint is bad. but it may be that the balloon
won't be able to take the weight of a repaint and still fly. There is
also much diffusion which needs to be addressed.
