Mr. J.J. Roberst will please Pay the bearer sixteen (16) days pay at $40 per month for services rendered as fireman on str.

On the reverse are the calculations for the payment and where John Cotter signed for the payment which was $21.33.
It is believed that The Hudson Coal Co. was the successor firm to The Hoboken Coal Co.
