Play script: HAIR: The American Tribal-Love Rock Musical. Book and Lyrics by Gerome Ragni & James Rado. Music by Galt MacDermot.Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc. edition, no date, copyrights up to 1970; this copy belonged to Victoria Roty, "Sheila," in 1994 New York production. Ragni and Rado lived in Hoboken where they created the work. (Note: Rado served as an "Executive Consultant" for the 1994 production this copy is from.) Title leaf copyright dates of 1966 and 1969, but on various leaves there are songs that include additional copyright dates of 1967, 1968 or 1970. Besides Rado and Ragni, copyright on songs include composer Galt MacDermot as well as Nat Shapiro and United Artists Music Co., Inc. as copyright holders. Title leaf text in full is in notes. Eighty-nine photocopy facsimile leaves, 8-1/2" x 11", in report binder with clear cover; with markings on most leaves in facsimile plus holographic markings with several different pens (probably by Victoria Roty) with lyrics, stage directions, etc. This copy is marked on title leaf for character "Sandi/Sheila" [character: Sheila Franklin] on a label covering the handwritten name in fascimile "Tony Rust." Tony Rust directed a production presented at Theatre 1-2-5 in New York City, September 16-October 22, 1994 and again December 8-31, 1994 in which Victoria Roty performed. (See archives 2007.012.0511 for Roty's copy of the Chorus Vocal Parts; see notes for staff and cast list of this production with source.) Rust performed in an earlier production (Eugene, Oregon, 1980) as "Claude." The photocopy here is probably a duplication from his personal copy used during that production which explains his name on the title leaf and the stage directions and other notes in fascimile. If it is his script from that production, then it ultimately dates this circa 1994 photocopy as one made from a 1980 or earlier version from Tams-Witmark.
