Scope and Content

Graduation program: A.J. Demarest High School, Hoboken, N.J. Class of January 1947. Single folio, 5-1/4" wide x 8-3/8" high, [4] pp. Printed in red. This copy belonged to Frank Monaco who was a member of this graduating class, a Honor Roll student in the Academic program. Cover and pages [3]-[4] state "Class of January, 1947", but page [2] which is the program listing has "Class of February 1947." Although the date of the the graduation ceremony is not given, it often happened in early February which may explain this discrepancy. Note that during these years (most of the 1940s) Demarest had a mid-year graduation, January - February as well as one in June. Members were listed by three courses: Veterans, Academic, Commercial. See notes for all names. Included in names are: Thomas F. McFeely, Superintendent of Schools Emil Canarozzi, Board of Education Also two teachers: Mrs. Lillian Kahrs Whiting, Art Department and Miss Catherine Strothoff, music.
