Scope and Content

Program: Eleventh Annual Dinner, Hoboken Board of Trade. German Club. Thursday, April Fifteenth, Nineteen Hundred and Fifteen. Pamphlet, 6" x 9" high, cord tie, [8] pp. Enclosure: holographic ink notes, one side only, of a speaker, single leaf, 5-3/4" x 8-7/8" high. Copy probably that of C. Alfred Burhorn, President. The German Club (also known as the Deutscher Club ) where the banquet was held was at 600 Hudson Street and had been the site for previous dinners. Speakers were: Patrick R. Griffin, Mayor of Hoboken Thomas C. Martin, Secretary of State of New Jersey Dudley Field Malone, Collector of the Port of New York William S. Stuhr, Ex-State Senator, New Jersey Alexander C. Humphreys, President, Stevens Institute of Technology C. Alfred Burhorn, Toastmaster Reverend M.A. Shipley Louise Wasserberg, President, Merchants Association of Hoboken (see notes for lists of officers, trustees and committee members.) Business group led by Burhorn who was also on the speakers list as Toastmaster; from the contents of the handwritten speech, it is probable that they were his notes and thus his copy of the program. This speech includes memorial tributes to members who died in the previous year: J. Henry Timken, Vice-President of the Board; Gustav Hauser; Robert J. Moore.
