Description

Official program for football game, St. Joseph's H.S. vs Demarest High School, Roosevelt Stadium, Union City, N.J., Oct. 7, 1950. Single color-printed folio (provided by Pepsi-Cola as seen in the inside spread) 10-5/8" high x 7-7/8" wide imprinted with rosters inside and local ads on the back. Price: 10 cents. Donor Katherine Marinovich attended A.J. Demarest High School, Hoboken from 1948-1951. Her sister, Josephine, was on the cheerleading squad and it is probable that they were both at this sports event. Although the program says Union City, Roosevelt Stadium was in Jersey City. The 4 Hoboken businesses that advertised on the back were: C. Muzzi, 102-10 Jefferson St.; Washington Furniture Co., 130 Washington St.; and two that are still in business at the same addresses - Stan's Sport Center, 536 Washington St. and Mayflower Paint & Hardware, 603 Willow Ave. A Pepsi-Cola ad line notes that it is "the only cola certified* of highest quality!" The asterisk refers to U.S. Testing Co., Inc. which was located in Hoboken.
