Order for Relief, Third Ward, Hoboken, August 22, 1879, to Fehren [grocer] allowing the bearer, Mrs. Lindner, to purchase groceries to the amount of three dollars; signed by Willam Mehan, Committee on Alms.
Printed form, 3-1/2" high x 5-7/8" wide, with holographic ink entries.
Note that the form was printed for an amount to be filled in as "per week" which was crossed out and thus this was a one time order. Members of the City Council typically provided this charity to ward residents.
